Jack McKeon

Born and raised in upstate New York, Jack is a student at Bard College where he studies American literature with the intent of pursuing graduate research in literature and sound studies. His interest in jazz music began in high school, when he began transitioning from classical piano training to jazz. An avid reader, Jack enjoys reading music histories and criticism, striving to understand the historical progressions of jazz while staying on top of contemporary music as well. Jack is currently engaged in a thesis-length study of the poet and critic Amiri Baraka, investigating the interrelationship between jazz aesthetics and writing in Baraka’s prose style. Additionally, Jack enjoys hiking, biking, and watching baseball. Recently, he’s been trying to learn how to rock climb.
