Anthony Simon

Anthony Simon’s musical evolution can be marked by periods. First was the richly rewarding Miles Davis/Chick Corea period. Next was the carousing Medeski Martin & Wood era, followed by a curiously enlightening epoch of Bill Frisell. Currently, he considers himself in a post-Steve Coleman period, and enjoying a kind of musical rebirth marked by tremendous freedom and discovery. An alumnus bass player of bands and orchestras, he's now content to be an ardent seeker and listener of sonic art. He practices patience and compassion, played Bootsy Collins in a no-budget film shot on a Tibetan Buddhist desert ranch in the late aughts, and his two cats listen to free jazz.
